It was quite a week for Mix Diskerud.
The New York City FC midfielder helped the United States National Team to a pair of comeback victories over the Netherlands -- 4-3 on June 5 -- and 2-1 over Germay on June 10. Diskerud's goal in the 41st minute in Cologne tied the match at 1-1 before Bobby Wood's late winner helped the United States topple the defending World Cup Champions.
Diskerud wasn't done, though. He rejoined New York City FC for their home match against the Montreal Impact on Saturday. The midfielder came on as a substitute in the 65th minute and found the back of the net 11 minutes later as the Club won 3-1 in front of 24,042 at Yankee Stadium.
Here is the story of his day in video, photos, statistics, quotes and more.
By the Numbers
- Scored his second goal of the season for New York City FC
- Scored his second goal of the week (one for USMNT, one for NYCFC)
Mix said:
“Of course if you score goals, you feel like you can do that more often. It felt good to come in and help the team.”
In the coach's words:
"I think that we see Mix gain some confidence through his two performances with the national team and obviously gained a ton of confidence from scoring a great goal against Germany and he brings that back with us. He only had one chance and he scored.”
