Mix Diskerud Scores as United States National Team Beats Germany, 2-1

Mix Diskerud Celebrates Scoring vs. Germany

New York City FC midfielder Mix Diskerud and Bobby Wood each found the back of the net as the United States Men's National Team beat defending World Cup Champion Germany 2-1 in an international friendly on Wednesday at the RheinEnergieSTADION in Cologne.

Diskerud's goal in the 41st minute tied the match at 1-1 after Mario Gotze put Germany ahead after 12 minutes. Captain Michael Bradley played a diagonal ball into the box that Mix ran onto, chested down and blasted home past goalie Ron-Robert Zieler.

The score remained tied at halftime.

Bradley was instrumental in the winner, passing the ball to Brad Evans, who fed it forward to Wood. The Erzgebirge Aue forward trapped, turned past a defender and fired a left-footed shot from 22 yards out into the bottom right corner.

The United States began the week with a 4-3 comeback victory over the Netherlands at the Amsterdam Arena on June 5. Mix came on as a second-half substitute in that match, logging 34 minutes.
