The Boys in Blue have returned from their quest for international glory and are ready to get back in the lab to prepare for playoffs.
Before we turn the page from the international break, let’s recap how seven of NYCFC’s finest did abroad.
Alexander Callens
The defender was once again back with the Peruvian national team as they played Uruguay in back-to-back friendlies on October 11 and 15. Callens started both matches off on the bench and remained an option for Ricardo Gareca. Although he didn’t take the pitch, he has consistently been called up to represent his nation.
Maxime Chanot
The Luxembourg defender was back with the team as they faced off against Portugal in a UEFA European Championship qualifier and Denmark in a friendly.
Big Max went the full 180 minutes as Luxembourg went down to two defeats.
Tony Rocha
The midfielder was called up for the second time to the Belize national team after making his debut back in September.
He reunited with his team to take on St. Kitts and Nevis in back-to-back matches to continue their campaign in the CONCACAF Nations League. Rocha played in both matches until the final whistle blew. Belize lost their first meeting with St. Kitts and Nevis, but came back to win the second one.
Sean Johnson
City’s goalkeeper received the nod from Gregg Berhalter once again in October as the US Men’s National Team played Cuba and Canada in the CONCACAF Nations League.
The USMNT defeated Cuba 7-0, but fell to Canada 2-0 to conclude the international break. Johnson didn’t see the pitch, but he made the final roster as a trusted option for his country.
Alexandru Mitriță
The Romanian had an impressive international break as he helped elevate his team in their quest to qualify for the European Championship.
Mitriță scored a goal and had an assist against Faroe Islands to seal the shut out win. He also scored the lone goal against Norway to secure the draw for his nation.
Valentin Castellanos
The striker earned his first call up to the Argentina U-23 National team after his successful season with NYCFC.
He joined up with the squad for camp and representing his country as they faced Mexico in a friendly which ended in a draw.
Ronald Matarrita
The defender represented Costa Rica once again as they also competed in the CONCACAF Nations League.
They took on Haiti to kickoff the international break conceding a 1-1 draw, but Matarrita remained on the bench.
He started and played the full match against Curaçao, as they held them to a 0-0 draw.
