USSDA 2019 awards

It was a good season for New York City FC’s Academy program, as the U-18/19 group brought home the US Soccer Development Academy trophy for a second consecutive year. 


The hardware was just the beginning of the honors for City’s Youth. The USSDA 2018-2019 awards started rolling in today and the first man on the list was Brooklynite, Justin Haak. 


NYCFC’s young homegrown signing, who made his pro debut this season, was named the Boys Player of the Year for the Eastern Conference. 

The midfielder was also named to the Eastern Boys Best XI team, joined by teammate and U.S. youth international defender, Tayvon Gray. 

Along with Gray and Haak, teammates Andres Jasson and Alex Rando were also decorated for their efforts in helping NYCFC to the Championship. 


Jasson, who scored six goals in the postseason alone, was awarded the Eastern Conference Golden Boot. He came through for the young Boys in Blue as one of the team’s top scorer. 

Rando, on the other hand, was awarded the Golden Glove for his massive presence in net. The goalkeeper limited the runner-ups, FC Dallas to one goal in the final and make a huge penalty save early in the match.


The 'keeper was a vital cog in the title-winning team, with his performance in the final an example of the consistency and quality Rando has provided all year long.

The final award was given to NYCFC’s Coaching Staff for being the men behind the production. The team effort to motivate and mold the boys’ paid off in yet another successful season.
