New York City FC Face Club Atletico de San Luis in Friendly

San Luis Friendly Announcement

New York City FC today announced that the Club will travel to Mexico to face Club Atlético de San Luis in a friendly match on Tuesday, February 13.

The match will take place at the 25,000+ seat Estadio Alfonso Lastras in San Luis Potosí, Mexico and will be NYCFC’s second exhibition match of the 2018 preseason, following the match vs. the LA Galaxy on Saturday, February 10 at the StubHub Center.

Patrick Vieira, New York City FC Head Coach, said: “We are looking forward to our friendly against Club Atlético de San Luis which will be one of our first tests of the 2018 season. They are a talented team and will provide us with a good environment to continue integrating the new players into our team and building our rhythm on the field.”

Claudio Reyna, New York City FC Sporting Director, said: “We would like to thank Club Atlético de San Luis for giving us this opportunity and are excited to once again travel to Mexico for a friendly match. Atlético de San Luis will be a good test for us in preparation for the 2018 MLS season.”

Atlético de San Luis returned to competitive football in 2017 with the help of a partnership with Atletico de Madrid and boasted the best average attendance in the Ascenso MX at the Estadio Alfonso Lastras – also the venue for the last home match of the Mexican National Team in 2018 World Cup Qualifying vs. Trinidad & Tobago.

Luis Torres Septien, General Manager of Atlético de San Luis, said: “It`s an honor for everybody at Atlético de San Luis to host another big spectacle in the city. Hosting New York City Football Club is a wonderful opportunity for all the fans to enjoy the game featuring great players. For our team, it is a good challenge to face one of the best teams in the United States.”

Ticket details will be announced in the coming weeks.
