Jack Harrison spotlight

Spotlight: Jack Harrison vs. Minnesota

Today, the spotlight shines on NYCFC rising star Jack Harrison, who showed yet again that he's the real deal in a big-time performance against Minnesota.

The winger made the difference in the second half, heading home the game winning goal in Thursday night's match. That goal was Jack's eighth of the seasongood for second-most among MLS midfieldersand his second game winner in four days.

As impressive as that is for the 20-year old, it wasn't the end of his exploits on the evening.

Key Moment

Jack brought Mikey Lopez's throw under control with his chest and flicked the ball over his head with his left foot, placing it perfectly into the path of David Villa.

Villa, of course, did the rest himself.

Showing no mercy, the captain latched onto Jack's pass and nutmegged his first challenger, beating the next three for pace before curling home to the far post from just inside the box. The golazo helped seal up a four-match win streak for NYCFC in their final home match before the international break.

It also highlighted the chemistry that Jack and El Guaje have developed during this season, which Jack says is the result of both his own hard work and the way the team has been able to bond.

In Jack's Words

"Having that experience of last year has definitely helped me out," he said of his improvement during this season. "It's helped me understand what options I have when I do get on the ball.

"It's a good run, I think we're really coming together as a team right now. The coaching staff and the team are bonding really well, and you can see it in the way we're playing. I've taken a lot more time to look over my game and try to figure out what I can do better, be useful, and help out my teammates and my coaching staff."

In Patrick's Words

"I'm quite surprised that he didn't receive any calls, at least for the under-21s. I think he needs, at least, to be looked at," said Vieira of Jack's international potential.
