VOTE: Villa Nominated for ESPY Award

ESPYS

Major League Soccer’s MVP is in the running for another prestigious award.

David Villa has been named as a finalist in the Best MLS Player category at the 25th annual ESPYS.

These prestigious accolades, bestowed upon exceptional athletes and teams across all athletic pursuits, are returning for their 25th incarnation in Los Angeles on July 12.

Villa is in the running for Best MLS Player award for the first time, facing off against Andre Blake, Stefan Frei, Matt Hedges and Bradley Wright-Phillips following his 23-goal 2016 season and his stellar start to 2017.

Fresh after firing NYCFC to the MLS Playoffs for the first time in 2016, Villa has picked up where he left off in 2017, scoring 10 goals in his first 15 games.

That tally included his 50th and 51st goals for the club in last Saturday’s 2-1 comeback win over Seattle Sounders on his 78th Regular Season appearance.

Peyton Manning will host the ESPYS which will be held at LA’s Microsoft Theater and will be broadcasted live on ABC.

Sebastian Giovinco took home the 2016 Best MLS Player ESPY, following in the footsteps of Robbie Keane, Tim Cahill, Thierry Henry and David Beckham.
