New York City FC's resident goalkeeper added to his already stacked North American soccer trophy case over the weekend.

Two time MLS Cup Champion Josh Saunders put an exclamation point on his stellar loan stint in San Antonio by coming up with some huge saves against the NY Cosmos as the Scorpions claimed the NASL Fall Season Championship on a game winner in the second minute of stoppage time. Saunders current squad will take on the Cosmos again on November 8th in the first round of the NASL Championship Playoffs.

In Australia, David Villa and Melbourne City FC succumbed to a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Adelaide United in Friday Night Football at AAMI Park in Round 4 of the Hyundai A-League. The star Spanish striker is now back in New York City.

Meanwhile in Norway, Midfielder Andrew Jacobson went another full 90 minutes in Stabaek's 1-0 loss to Haugesund.

Over in England, after hanging out with two New York City FC Founding Members at the Manchester Derby on the weekend, it appears Frank Lampard could be ready to make his return from injury in time for Machester City's Champions League clash against CSKA Moscow on Wednesday.

"I'm not far off selection," he declared. "Fingers crossed, if all goes well over the next couple of days. I'll be back in contention.

"I had a small injury in my thigh - a old injury I'd distrubed slightly.

"It wasn't as bad as I'd first feared but you have to be very careful with muscle injuries. That was the issue.

"I've been working very hard to get back because I was really enjoying playing at the time [I suffered the injury] and that was the bad thing about it."

Jeb Brovsky and Kwame-Watson Siriboe did not feature on the weekend.
