The Top Six Matches of the Second Half of the 2016 Season

As we approach the midway point of the 2016 season, let’s take a moment to look ahead and highlight the six matches you cannot miss in the second half of the season.

1.June 15  New York Cosmos (Coffey Field, Fordham University) -- BUY TICKETS


This will be the first time in franchise history that NYCFC will host a U.S. Open Cup match. NYCFC is looking to avenge a 2015 U.S. Open Cup loss to the Cosmos. The Cosmos have a rich history that dates back to 1970 and have had players like Pele and Raul on their roster.  
2. June 25 — Seattle Sounders (Seattle, Washington)
NYCFC will make their first trip to CenturyLink field in Seattle. The Sounders feature U.S. Men’s National Team standout, Clint Dempsey. Dempsey has been a mainstay for the U.S. team for more than a decade. Seattle also features Jordan Morris who is off to a strong rookie season, the 21-year-old has scored five goals so far this season. 
3. July 24 — Red Bulls (Harrison, New Jersey)
NYCFC will play their only match at Red Bull Arena in 2016. It will be the third and final matchup with their tri-state rival. The Red Bulls are led by veteran forward Bradley Wright-Phillips who has scored eight goals so far this season. 
4. July 30 — Colorado Rapids (Yankee Stadium) -- BUY TICKETS
The Colorado Rapids will make their first trip to Yankee Stadium this season. The Rapids currently sit as the best team in all of MLS. The Rapids will feature U.S. Men’s National Team goalkeeper, Tim Howard. Howard previously played for Everton and has been on the U.S. team since 2002. He debuted for the Metrostars in 1998 and played with that club until 2003. 
5. August 20 — LA Galaxy (Yankee Stadium) -- BUY TICKETS
NYCFC will welcome the most decorated MLS team in league history, the LA Galaxy. The Galaxy have won five MLS Cups, their latest one was in 2014. The Galaxy are led by Giovani dos Santos, who has scored six goals and registered five assists for Los Angeles so far this season.
6. October 23 — Columbus Crew (Yankee Stadium) -- BUY TICKETS
NYCFC will finish the 2016 MLS regular season against the 2015 Eastern Conference Champions. Despite trading goal-scoring machine Kei Kamara to New England, Ola Kamara (no relation to Kei) has picked up the slack and has scored four goals in seven matches for the Crew, including a hat trick against Real Salt Lake on May 28.
