Two New York City FC players were included in MLS’ 22 Under 22 list, including the Club’s first-ever Homegrown player James Sands.

The native of Rye, New York, placed third overall in the league’s list that looks to rank the best players under the age of 22.

Sands has enjoyed a fantastic 2021 campaign, as evidenced by his rise from 6th position in the 2020 rankings to third in 2021. In July of this year he also celebrated his senior international debut with the United States, en route to helping his country lift the 2021 Gold Cup trophy.

The 21-year-old is joined on the list by his teammate Thiago Andrade, who placed in 19th. The exciting Brazilian forward only joined NYCFC in April of this year, but has managed to make a strong impression.

He scored his first goal of the season in a 3-2 defeat to the New England Revolution before producing a memorable solo effort in the 2-1 victory against D.C. United eight days later.

The club would like to congratulate both players on their achievement. The list in full can be found here.
