New York, N.Y., April 15, 2022 – Today, New York City Football Club (NYCFC) and Dawn®, America’s #1 dish liquid, announced a new community partnership – making Dawn the Official Dish Soap of the Club. The launch of the Free Kicks for Free Meals initiative will tackle food insecurity across New York City.
Thanks to Dawn’s Free Kicks for Free Meals program, NYCFC will donate 100 free meals per free kick, corner kick, and penalty kick won during all MLS regular season matches. The program will benefit a local community organization, with a goal of donating 50,000 meals throughout the 2022-2023 season.
Since the start of the season, NYCFC has already won 69 free kicks, corner kicks, and penalty kicks during its first five MLS regular season games – equating to 6,900 meals to be donated to community members in need. Both Dawn and NYCFC are excited to kick off this new program and help make a difference.
“Food insecurity is near to my heart, as I grew up in poverty and my family lived on Food Stamps,” said Dawn Brand Communications Manager Amy Sumontha. “During the pandemic, more people have experienced food insecurity, especially children – not to mention the huge racial disparity amongst those who are impacted. Our Dawn team is thrilled that we can begin making an impact and help feed those in need.”
