New York City FC is back from the bye-week and preparing to take on the Chicago Fire this Memorial Day weekend.

“It’s an important game. We know Chicago is an excellent team that prepares well for games,” Ronald Matarrita told reporters.

The first time these two teams met back in April was in the Bronx, where NYCFC was able to come away with a 1-0 victory, thanks to a lone goal from Taty Castellanos.

The Boys in Blue have been on the road for the past two matches, and had a week of some well earned R&R. The week off was enough to get the boys recharged and ready to get back in action to fight for another 3 points.

“We’re really motivated to play this coming match,” said Mata.

NYCFC began their season winless, but since then they have found their footing, with a new formation and a new striker, they have gone undefeated in the past seven games.

“I think we’re in good shape right now. At the beginning of the season we didn’t get the results but I think we found the right route to getting results in matches,” said Mata. “Regardless I think we have the team necessary to be able to get the 3 points on the road again.”

The City boys have two matches left in their road campaign before heading home for Pride Night, as the team takes on FC Cincinnati on June 6 for the first time ever since the expansion.

With 18 points under their belt and a desire to keep climbing the table, NYCFC meets the Fire this Saturday. Don’t miss a minute of the action, tune in to Univision Deportes and Unimas, or listen on WNYE 91.5 FM.
