New York City FC are in the World’s Borough this weekend as they take on Atlanta United.

The game against the Five Stripes kicks off at 7:30PM ET at Citi Field.

Here are the Keys to the Match, presented by Ford…

Citi Boys

New York City FC return to Queens for the first time this season when they take on Atlanta United.

City played in Queens seven times during the MLS Regular Season in 2023 and lost only twice – including taking six points in back-to-back games against Nashville SC and FC Dallas in April.

A repeat of those performances on Saturday will give City a sizable boost in their attempts to climb the league and could see them end Saturday as high as 10th place in the Eastern Conference.

Both players and staff have previously spoken about how much they enjoy playing in Queens and that is in no small part due to the atmosphere. There is undeniably something special about playing at Citi Field and the City Boys will hope to harness that feeling when they take on Atlanta United.

Tickets are still on sale for Saturday’s game so don’t miss out on the chance to be there. The Boys are back in the World’s Borough.

Five Stripes History

This will be the sixteenth meeting between the two sides with City narrowly ahead five wins to Atlanta’s four while there have also been six ties.

The two teams have had memorable matchups down the years. In 2018, Atlanta overcame City enroute to winning their first MLS Cup, while City kicked off their own playoff run to MLS Cup success in 2021 with a 2-0 victory against Atlanta United in the Bronx.

Both teams are eager to attack and control the ball through a short passing game which is why these meetings typically make for exciting viewing. The same will likely be true on Saturday, so don’t miss out on the next installment!

Home Stretch

Saturday’s game is the first of five consecutive home games the team has in MLS.

City have always found strength in their form at home, and Nick Cushing had made no secret of how difficult it can be to claim points on the road in MLS, meaning the team’s form at home takes on greater importance.

Both the players and staff know how much energy the fans will bring to each occasion and it is vital they emerge from the five games with a good points return as it could kickstart the campaign.
