What are the NYCFC Girls Teams?

Teams will be created regionally to reduce travel time for players and families while also allowing every talented female player the opportunity to represent NYCFC.

2021: Region 1 – Westchester/Connecticut – Games and Training sessions will be held at the Danbury Sports Dome and Manhattanville College.

2022: Region 2 – Long Island – Games and Training session location is TBA. Sign up today to join our mailing list and be the first to get information on our upcoming Open Clinics and Talent ID sessions.

What age groups will be represented in 2021?

This coming year we will have three age groups representing NYCFC in the Fall of 2021. U10 (2012), U11 (2011), U12 (2010).

Which leagues will the teams play in?

Commencing this Fall season, all teams will participate in the Elite Development League (EDP). We believe this league is the right environment for players to develop and compete against local talent in the tri-state area.

How are players selected to join?

NYCFC Girls Development Teams | FAQ -

How many times a week will teams train and play?

Each team will practice in person twice a week and play one game each weekend of the Fall & Spring season. There will also be a 10 week winter training and an optional pre-season summer program. Players will also participate in virtual training sessions once a week using our virtual platform.

How long will each practice be?

Each session consists of 90mins of training, based around a creative, possession-based style of play. Each week will see 3 hours of training time with the game on the weekend.

Who will coach the Development Teams?

Each team will have a dedicated Head Coach and Assistant Coach. All coaches will be NYCFC youth coaches trained under the NYCFC & City Play Model.

Will the teams participate in seasonal tournaments?

Teams will participate in 2 tournaments each year. Players will compete in a Fall tournament and a Spring Tournament. Teams will also play in one-off friendly games over the course of the year.

What size will the rosters be?

Roster sizes will depend on the age groups of each team. U10s will have 12 players per team. U11 & U12 will have 14 players per team. (U10-U12 age groups will have two teams per age group) These roster sizes offer players the chance to experience further game minutes and more focused attention on their development in practice.

How much is the registration fees?

Registration for this program will be $3,000 per year (includes Fall, Spring & Winter).

Is there a pre-season camp?

Each year there will be an optional pre-season camp that will take place approx. 2 week prior to the start of the Fall season.

Are there any remote learning opportunities?

In addition to all in-person trainings, all players will have individual access to our exclusive Virtual Platform. Programs (live & pre-recorded) will be created during the course of the year that all players can participate in remotely. Players will also receive additional content from our sister clubs at Manchester City and Melbourne City men’s & women’s teams.

Are there opportunities to watch NYCFC at Yankee Stadium?

All NYCFC players will have opportunities to watch our games & participate in unique experiences at Yankee Stadium.

Players will have opportunities throughout the MLS season to participate in player meet and greets, act as ball-kids and player mascots in addition to attending games as fans.
