Rob Vartughian was named assistant coach for New York City FC on Dec. 22 2014.

Prior to joining New York City FC, Vartughian spent five years with the Philadelphia Union where he was first assistant coach before becoming technical director alongside his coaching responsibilities. He has also worked as a goalkeeping coach and scout for the US men’s national Under-15 to Under-23 teams.

Before joining the Union, Vartughian was an assistant coach with the University of Pennsylvania and the University of Maryland. 

Vartughian played collegiately for St. Bonaventure and Wake Forest.
