Alexander Callens has been named to the final 23-man Peru squad for this summer’s Copa America in Brazil.
The NYCFC defender earned a recall to the selection in 2018 and his excellent form at club level has earned him a place at his first major international tournament.
Peru will face off against hosts Brazil, as well as Bolivia and Venezuela in the group stages which kick-off on June 15.
Appearing in their 32nd Copa America, Peru will be aiming for a third title, following tournament wins in 1939 and 1975.
Callens has won to date and will join up with international teammates after Saturday’s match vs. Columbus Crew.
The tournament will be broadcasted live on ESPN+ and Telemundo.
