ACADEMY: NYCFC U-17s & U-19s Return From Dallas

It's been a busy week for NYCFC's Academy in Texas, with our U-17s and U-19s taking part in the Generation adidas Cup and the Dallas Cup, respectively.


Here's what they've been up to...


Dallas Cup 2019 


NYCFCU-19s headed to Dallas last week to compete against academy teams from around the world for a shot at the Dr. Pepper Dallas Cup trophy. The team faced off against Ikapa United, Liverpool FC, and Tigres UANL to advance to the semi-finals, although the team was eliminated narrowly by Villarreal, they represented the City Blue with pride.

Highlights: 


Check out the highlights from an action-packed week as the U-19s headed down south to Dallas! 

The team defeated Liverpool FC on a lone goal from Justin Haak to start off the tournament strong! 

The momentum kept building as the U-19s were able to find the back of the net eight times total to shut out Ikapa United to advance to the second round. 

The squad faced their first loss of the tournament at the hands of the Tigres as they conceded two goals. Regardless of the result, the team advanced to the semi-finals. 

In the semi-finals match-up, the U-19s took on Villareal and fell short of one goal in a 3-2 loss to be eliminated from the tournament. Although the team didn't get a chance to raise the Dallas Cup trophy, they returned home equipped with valuable experience to prepare them for the rest of the season. You made us proud boys! 


2019 Generation Adidas Cup 


Along with the U-19s, the U-17s were in Dallas competing in a tournament as well, but in their case it was for the 2019 Generation adidas Cup. The boys fought hard and had the opportunity to play and compete with some of the best athletes on the academy level.

Highlights: 


Check out the highlights from the U-17s time in Dallas competing in the 2019 Generation Adidas Cup tournament! 

The U-17s kicked off the tournament in a double header on day one, they fought hard in the first matchup of the day against Real Salt Lake. They maintained a 1-1 draw throughout the game, only to fall in a penalty shootout.

Hours later, the team hit the pitch again to face off against River Plate. The boys found themselves down 1-0, and weren't able to score the equalizer. Regardless of the result, the team fought hard in a back-to-back battle on day one.

On day two, the U-17s lost to Lyon in a tough battle, against a top team.

The squad turned on their magic on day three, scoring two goals against Flamengo and coming away with a 2-1 win!

NYCFC's U-17s held Toronto FC to a goalless first half in an effort to find their second win of the tournament, unfortunately, Toronto came away with this one, 2-0.

The team wrapped the tournament on a high note, beating Peñarol, 2-1, as they left their mark on the GA Cup. The U-17s returned home after a hard fought week of games against some of the best players on the academy level. They played hard and made NYCFC proud to have them represent our city in Dallas.
