Earth Day 2019: Fans and Staff Volunteer to Keep NYC Beautiful

Spring has sprung and the city’s wild life needs our help! New York City Football Club and City in the Community have partnered with the Parks Agency and the New York Restoration Project to clean up Jerome Slope in the Bronx for Earth Day.

“As part of a league wide campaign with MLS WORKS Greener Goals we are proud to partner with New York Restoration Project again this year and help beautify the space at Jerome Slope by Yankee Stadium,” said Paul Jeffries, Director of Community Development. “We will also be supporting the 161st Street Bid to clean up the Bronx Stadium Gardens.”

The Club and a number of volunteers will have an opportunity to get together in the park on April 19, and dedicate the day to improve the park for the community by picking up litter, removing weeds, and restoring plant life.

“Our goal is to help raise awareness about environmental issues throughout the soccer community and through our staff, fans and partners we hope we can help play a bigger role in preserving the environment in New York City,” said Jeffries.

This opportunity gives members of the community to get out there and do their part to benefit the community.

As Earth Day fast approaches, you can lend a helping hand to the community and the parks, so the city can enjoy them as the weather gets warmer. City Members can register to join the NYCFC staff in the Bronx by using the Cityzens Portal. Let’s keep New York beautiful, #ForTheCity!
