What a week for NYCFC!
The Blues collected all nine points from their week that saw victories against NY Red Bull, Montreal Impact and Columbus Crew.
Jesus Medina was voted Alcatael MLS Player of the Week, and had his 80th minute goal against Columbus dissected on SB Nation.
Personal accolades have been for the taking as Anton Tinnerholm secured the Etihad Player of the Month for June, and Alexander Callens joins league shutout leader Sean Johnson on the MLS Team of the Week for July 15.
As the All-Star Game in Atlanta approaches, the race in the East gets even tighter as NYCFC and Atlanta are now a point apart. City are now number two in the MLS power rankings.
In the front office, Sporting Director Claudio Reyna also hinted at the possibility of a two new additions.
“Any decision has an impact short and long term so we’re working through that as well, to make sure that we strengthen the team, but at the same time leave some money for next year as well so we can even get stronger,” Reyna said. “The team is in second place, is doing really well, but we understand and feel we need to add players and we’re confident we’ll add two in this window.”
NYCFC U-19’s are the DA National Champions, defeating LA Galaxy’s youth set up on penalty kicks. The team was honored during and after Saturday’s match at Yankee Stadium.
Locally, the installation at Rockefeller Center was a smash. Our partnership with Telemundo saw thousands of visitors pass through the iconic Midtown location to watch the World Cup, play small sided games, check out some cool gear, and hang out with Dome.
