New York City FC Head Coach Patrick Vieira will be without five players for Friday night’s Hudson River Derby.
Maxime Chanot underwent a successful bilateral sports hernia procedure on Monday morning.
The recovery time associated with this procedure is 6-8 weeks, though recovery times may vary and the club remains optimistic that Maxime will have a further part to play in the 2017 season.
Elsewhere, Ronald Matarrita is still on the sidelines with a fractured foot, along with on-loan Miguel Camargo who is out for the season with a hip injury.
James Sands, who captained U.S U17s to a 3-1 win over Russia on Wednesday, scoring the second goal, will remain in Prague representing his nation as they face Japan on Friday morning in their final group game at the Youth Tournament of Vaclav Jezek.
Finally, Yangel Herrera will also miss the game after picking up his fifth yellow card of the season in the 2-1 win over New England on Sunday night but Alex Ring is back in contention after serving his one-game ban.
According to MLSSoccer.com, Aurelien Collin is questionable for Friday night in Harrison, while Gideon Baah, Mike Grella and Daniel Royer are definitely out.
NYCFC can complete a clean sweep of Hudson River Derby victories for 2017 if they can record a second-ever win at Red Bull Arena.
