The results are in and now it's official: Ben Sweat is your Etihad Player of the Month for June!
Sweat is the overwhelming choice this month, and for good reason. He logged his first-ever MLS goal in June, added two assists, and helped anchor NYCFC's backline in an undefeated month of play.
Ben's marquee performance came in NYCFC's 2-0 victory over the Red Bulls, where he had a hand in both goals—assisting on Jack Harrison's opener and sealing the match with a goal of his own.
That win was NYCFC's first away victory over the Red Bulls, and Sweat's instrumental performance put him in the running for the Etihad Player of the Month award. However, it wasn't his only standout performance of June. Ben assisted Alexander Callens' equalizer in our eventual 3-1 victory over Minnesota to close out our four-match win streak, and his tidy, creative play on the ball throughout the month added an extra spark to the club's style of play.
