The XI: Pirlo Starts vs. Whitecaps

The XI Pirlo vs Whitecaps

Andrea Pirlo returns to the XI NYCFC’s final engagement before the CONCACAF Gold Cup.

The Italian midfielder is in for Rodney Wallace as one of two changes to the lineup which started the 3-1 victory over Minnesota United.

Elsewhere, RJ Allen is back in the team at right-back as Ronald Matarrita continues his recovery from a fractured metatarsal.

Andrea made an impressive cameo against Minnesota last time out and will make his ninth start of the campaign and, from the look of the XI, it appears as though he will play in behind David Villa as the no.10 with Jack Harrison and Tommy McNamara on either side.

Allen starts on the right of a back four with Maxime Chanot, Alexander Callens and Ben Sweat in behind Alex Ring, Yangel Herrera and Pirlo.

Meanwhile, Eirik Johansen retains his place in goal following his first appearance of 2017 in that win over Minnesota at Yankee Stadium.

Maxi Moralez is back in the 18 following his three-game injury layoff but is only ready for a place on the bench where he’s joined by Jonathan Lewis, Kwame Awuah and Mikey Lopez.

NYCFC are going for a club record fifth MLS victory in a row at BC Place up against a Vancouver side without a win in three.

Kick-off takes place at 10pm ET and you can watch the game on YES Network in the U.S or on TSN1 in Canada.
