Lewis U20s story

Jonathan Lewis made a crucial contribution for his nation in an important U.S U20 win over St Kitts and Nevis in Costa Rica.

The 2017 MLS SuperDraft pick-up played 68 minutes, scored and assisted in a 4-1 win which clinched qualification for the next round of the CONCACAF U-20 Championships.

Lewis drilled in from close range with 19 minutes on the clock after a corner was only partially cleared to make it 2-0 and then in the 34th minute he won the ball back in St Kitts and Nevis territory to assist Sebastian Saucedo’s goal to make it 3-0.

The NYCFC forward sat out the opening day defeat to Panama before starting in the 4-1 win over CONCACAF champions last time out, winning the penalty which led to the equalizer.

In the next round, the top two placed teams from the group containing El Salvador, Mexico and U.S will advance to the 2017 FIFA U-20 World Cup in South Korea in May.

We will let you know how Jonathan fares in the next round of the competition here on NYCFC.com.
