New York City FC 2015 Goal of the Year Nominations: First Round

New York City FC had many memorable moments and goals over the inaugural season. Here we look back at eight spectacular goals from the 2015 season and ask you to cast your vote for the best New York City FC goal of the season. 

Here are the first round match-ups:


Leading off the first round is Tommy McNamara’s top right blast against the Philadelphia Union on June 6, who goes up against Frank Lampard’s brilliant finish on Sept. 26 against the Vancouver Whitecaps.


In the second match-up, David Villa’s historic home opener goal on March 15 against New England goes up against Patrick Mullins' header, which was set up by a Andrea Pirlo corner against Toronto FC on Sept. 16.


In the third match-up, Mehdi Ballouchy’s curler against the Philadelphia Union on April 16 faces off against Kwadwo Poku’s bicycle kick goal against the New York Cosmos on June 17.


In the final match-up, it’s David Villa’s first class finish against Orlando City SC on July 26 versus Andrew Jacobson’s blast against the Columbus Crew on Aug. 29.
