2015 NYC Supporters Club Cup

NEW YORK | Twelve teams made up of more than 125 participants donned their favorite soccer clubs’ jerseys and took to the field for the Eighth Annual New York City Supporters Club Cup on Saturday at Pier 40.

The charity event, which pitted supporters groups of clubs ranging from New York City FC (Third Rail) to Real Madrid to Juventus and Cardiff City, was won by the Leeds United supporters, who went unbeaten on the way to the trophy.

Leeds United went 5-0-0 to top Group A with Liverpool (12 points) finishing second. Group B was won by Arsenal (13 points), while Millonarios finished runners up with eight points.

Leeds United and Liverpool won their respective semifinals, setting the stage for an all-English club supporters final.

City in the Community also fielded a team comprised of youth from the Saturday Night Lights program, while the Third Rail was also represented.

Proceeds for the annual event go to Downtown United Soccer Club and City in the Community Foundation that support kids with scholarships and after-school programs in low-income communities.

Special thanks to 2015 NYC Supporters Club Cup partners The Football Factory and Mr. Dennehey's for pre- and post-tournament events.
