Connor Brandt Undergoes Successful Surgery

New York City FC defender Connor Brandt underwent successful surgery to repair a sports hernia last week in Los Angeles, the Club announced.

Brandt is slated to be out approximately six weeks.

“He went out to California to have his injury diagnosed,” head coach Jason Kreis said. “He had the surgery and it went quite well. We’ll be headed in a much clearer direction than we have been – it feels like he’s been out of service for two months. We’ve had a lot of questions about what it is, so we all feel good we have it officially addressed and are moving in a positive direction.”

The 22-year-old Brandt, who was selected 23rd overall (second round) in the 2015 MLS SuperDraft and signed with the Club on Feb. 26, has made one appearance for New York City FC in his rookie season. He came on as a second-half substitute in a 2-0 loss at Real Salt Lake on May 30.

New York City return to the field on Saturday afternoon against Montreal. Kickoff is 2 p.m. ET from Yankee Stadium and tickets are still available. To purchase tickets, please visit nycfc.com/tickets.
