Tommy McNamara's Strike Named Major League Soccer Goal of the Week

Tommy McNamara's 25-yard wonder strike against the Philadelphia Union on June 6 has been voted by fans as the Major League Soccer Goal of the Week for Week 14. He is the first-ever New York City FC player to win the honor.

McNamara had 32.68% of the votes, edging out Orlando City SC's Cyle Larin (24.43%) and Toronto FC's Sebastian Giovinco (22.53%).

The 24-year-old earned his first start of the season with New York City FC and made the most of the opportunity. McNamara outmuscled the Union's Vincent Nogueria for the ball near midfield and passed it to teammate Kwadwo Poku. McNamara continued his run forward, received the ball, took a few touches into space and fired his right-footed attempt into the top far corner, tying the match at 1-1 in the 53rd minute.

Patrick Mullins scored in the 87th minute as New York City FC snapped an 11-game winless streak with a 2-1 road victory -- the first in Club history.

New York City FC return to the field on Saturday against the Montreal Impact.
