Tommy McNamara tallied his first-career start for New York City FC against the Philadelphia Union on June 6 at PPL Park.
The young midfielder made the most of his opportunity by scoring a 25-yard wonder strike in the Club's 2-1 victory.
McNamara started and ended the move that led to the match-tying finish in the 53rd minute. He stripped Vincent Nogueira of possession near midfield and dished the ball to Kwadwo Poku. Poku, also making his first start with New York City FC, held up play and waited for McNamara to run ahead of him. Poku passed the ball to McNamara, who took a few dribbles into open space before firing home his shot from distance past a diving Brian Sylvestre.
Here is a recap of McNamara's day in video, photos, quotes, statistics and more.

"It feels good to finally get three points. We’ve been working extremely hard and we’ve been staying together. It feels good for it to finally come together for us. We wanted to get the three points. Whoever scored the goals scored the goals and it happened to be me today. It’s icing on the cake."
