David Villa has been named to Melbourne City's 18-man roster for their season opener away to Sydney FC on Saturday.
New York City's star striker effectively entered the second phase of his training regimine in preparation for the club's inaugural season when he arrived in Australia over the weekend and began training with the Melbourne City FC first team ahead of their 2014 Hyundai A-League season opening match. The work Villa put in with New York City FC head coach Jason Kreis over the past two months showed in how quickly he was able to acclimate to his new teammates and the intensity of first team football.
For hardcore supporters, night owels, and early risers respectively, the match kicks off at 4:30AM ET Saturday on Fox Sports 2.
