2017: Tommy Mac had another strong season in 2017. In his third year with the Club, Tommy showcased his versatility and prowess in possession, starting 19 matches and appearing in 27. McNamara scored three goals and added a pair of assists, and even put himself in contention for a United States National Team call-up after being named to the USA’s preliminary Gold Cup squad.
2016: Tommy built on his excellent first season at NYCFC to enjoy an even better 2016, earning the trust of his Head Coach Patrick Vieira. Tommy was a crucial member of the team which qualified for the MLS Playoffs for the first time, playing 31 times, scoring five and assisting nine goals. Earned the Etihad Player of the Month award for March 2016 and won MLS Goal of the Week for weeks’ 4 and 14.
2015: Made his New York City FC debut on March 28 against Sporting Kansas City at Yankee Stadium. Scored five goals and tallied three assists for the season. Played in 19 games, starting 15 of them. Was named New York City FC’s Eithad Airways Player of month for June.
2014: Drafted 20th overall (second round) in the 2014 MLS SuperDraft by Chivas USA. Officially signed on Feb. 14. Made his professional debut on March 9 against Chicago Fire. Scored his first professional goal in the 60th minute on the way to a 3-2 opening day victory. Tore his right ACL on April 12 and underwent season-ending surgery. Registered six shots in six starts with Chivas. Acquired by D.C. United fourth overall in the 2014 MLS Dispersal Draft on Nov. 19.
Played four seasons at Brown University before enrolling at Clemson University in order to earn a master's degree. His team-high seven goals to go with eight assists helped lead the Tigers to an 11-7-3 record and berth in the 2013 NCAA Tournament. Named All-Atlantic Coast Conference First Team, NSCAA All-South Region and ACC All-Tournament team.
Earned a bachelor's degree in economics from Brown University.
