James Sands
The U.S. international returned to New York earlier this year and has provided a calming presence in the heart of midfield.
Versatility remains one of Sands’ many strengths, and fans saw that up close this past month. As well as playing his traditional midfield role, Sands also slotted into a back three.
Always keen to keep the ball moving as NYCFC build-up attacks, Sands has shown why he is so highly rated.
Maxime Chanot
The veteran defender has been a fixture in the NYCFC defence this season.
His reading of the game and composure on the ball have been an asset at the back, while his bravery in defensive duels also spoke to his commitment to the cause in the pursuit of points.
A long-standing member of the team, Chanot continues to demand the best from those around him.
Gabriel Pereira
The Brazilian’s silky skills didn’t desert in him May.
He started the month with a goal against Charlotte FC. His well-timed run and composure in the box earned him a spot on the score sheet. He rounded out the month with another well-taken finish against Philadelphia Union.
Able to dazzle on the ball, Pereira has proven a consistent threat for NYCFC in May.
