Vet Tix: Military Personnel Join NYCFC for Derby

Red Bulls Vet Tix

“Best sporting event I’ve ever been to…”

That’s how one currently serving US Army employee described his experience at Yankee Stadium on Sunday night as part of NYCFC’s “Tickets for Troops” campaign, in association with Vet Tix.

As part of this initiative, NYCFC fans have been donating tickets to both former and active members of the military to give something back to those who have given so much for this country.

Teaming up with Vet Tix, NYCFC has so far donated more than 2,000 tickets for a number of games, including our 3-2 Hudson River Derby win over Red Bulls last weekend.

For one currently serving Naval Officer, his first taste of live soccer was an experience he’ll never forget.

The user, who identified himself as “kimo”, said: “Terrific venue, my first soccer game and certainly not my last.

“The energy and crowd was nonstop from the opening whistle till the final one. Oh, and the after party on the avenue was awesome, crowd cheering in the street while a FDNY truck sounded the sirens and flashed lights, really pumped the crowd.

“I highly recommend it, but of course I would've never got there and had such great experience without VetTix and the ticket donors, thank you very much for your commitment to our troops and your generosity.”

Daniel, a US Coast Guard, agreed that watching NYCFC’s victory was a great experience and expressed his gratitude to those who had made this night possible for him and his family.

Daniel said: “We are huge New York City FC fans and haven't up until this point been able to make it to a game.

“It was such an amazing game and my kids absolutely loved every minute of it. I would just again like to say thank you so much for making this possible for us!”
