New York City Football Club begin the 2022 MLS Regular Season on the road against LA Galaxy.

For this edition of 'The Away End' presented by Berkeley College & Rennert International, we spoke to Galaxy mascot Cozmo.

Hi Cozmo, thanks so much for speaking with us. What’s the best thing about being LA Galaxy mascot?

Without a doubt, it’s the fans, the supporters, and the families that come out to games. The noise and passion for this club never ever stops. I literally get chills up and down my spine. I can’t get enough.

We know your journey here began in pursuit to find the perfect Galaxy. What convinced you it was this one?

This is Hollywood baby. All the big stars come from here. Plus, they have soccer and the best tacos!

We heard you wanted to try out for the team when you first landed. What position did you intend to play?

Always wanted to be a goalkeeper. Always. I still try to get involved during training from time to time.

The team has won four MLS Cups since you arrived, so what have been your favorite memories with the team?

There are so many good memories to choose from through the years. Some of the best would be winning back-to-back Cups Beckham and Landon. Sharing a couple of championship years with my buddy Bailey, mascot for the LA Kings, in 2012 and 14. Zlatan’s debut in our first match against the other soccer team we have here. But my favorite memory with this club is always the next one.

What are you most excited about as the 2022 season begins?

Seeing all the fans, and the kids who get taller and taller every season. I can’t wait to cheer and chant with them, and chase Cup #6 together!

And finally, for any of our fans that decide to make the trip over, are there any local spots you’d suggest they try and check out?

Go skateboarding in Venice, check out where I landed my U.F.O. behind the Hollywood sign, hike Griffith Park, or go ride the ferris wheel at the Santa Monica Pier.

If you’re like me and love some good tacos, I’d suggest: the inventor of the taco truck, King Taco; or Taco's Antojito which is a great post game spot two miles from Dignity Health Sports Park. Just stop by any taco spot you find in LA because they’ll be miles better than what you get in NY 😉 (Editor: Sic).
