New York City Football Club host D.C. United on Wednesday night.

For this edition of 'The Away End' presented by Berkeley College & Rennert International, we spoke to D.C. United mascot, Talon.

Hi Talon, thanks for speaking with us. How did you become D.C. United's mascot?

In 1996, D.C. United became one of the original MLS teams and what does every team need? An awesome mascot. As a bald eagle, representing the nationā€™s capital has always been a dream of mine so the last 20+ seasons have been incredible.

Are you friends with any of the other MLS mascots?

Friends is a strong word. I tolerate some mascots more than others. But I refuse to shake hands or even acknowledge the Red Bull whenever I see him.

If you were to take to the field what position would you want to play?

Iā€™ve always been told that I have the wingspan to be a good goalkeeper!

Who would you say is your favorite player on the D.C. United roster?

Thatā€™s like picking your favorite child. All the players are great and theyā€™re all close friends. Itā€™s been fun to get reacquainted with Wayne Rooney this season. Itā€™s also been great to get to know Taxi Fountas, such a fun and exciting player!

What's the best thing about being the team's mascot?

Free tickets to the games! There are so many great things about being a mascot for such a historic team like D.C. United. Meeting the fans on game day has to be up there as my favorite thing as a mascot. The fans here are truly the best!

For any of our fans that may be in D.C. soon are there any spots you'd suggest they check out?

Audi Field is my personal favorite place in DC but there are loads of fun spots to see. There is so much vibrant culture and history in the District. You can explore the National Monuments or go visit the other stadiums in the city! The Washington Spirit, Washington Wizards, Washington Mystics, Washington Commanders, Washington Nationals, and Washington Capitals are all a great time!
