Talles Magno | “We’re Determined To Turn Things Around.”

Talles Magno says the New York City squad are confident of improving the Club’s fortunes in the coming weeks.

The Boys in Blue have endured a challenging run of form over the past month, with one point earned from our last five games.

Locking horns with the Eastern Conference leaders in FC Cincinnati on Wednesday night, there is no let-up for the City Boys – but Magno asserts his side are refusing to dwell on recent setbacks, remaining focused and together in a bid to return to winning ways at the earliest opportunity.

“We’re really focused on the game against Cincinnati,” the Brazilian said. “We want to come out victorious – we need to start adding some points, and getting some positive results.

“In terms of Cincinnati, it really comes down to ourselves, and our mentality: trying to stay strong, trying to be together, and trying to get three points against a tough opponent.

“We know they play a similar style as Philadelphia – they play fast, they play direct with the long ball… At times, that can be difficult for us as a team, but we’ll be ready for that, as long as we stick together, we stay focused and we work on our game.

“Obviously, we’re going to try to wear out the opponent by playing our style of game with possession, playing the ball at our feet – but we’re looking forward to the challenge that Cincinnati will bring.

“We’re really concentrated and looking forward to the match. Obviously, it’s going to be a difficult match – every team in the league is very difficult to face.

“But if we maintain our focus and give the best of ourselves, we have a good chance against anybody in the league.

“We’re really looking forward to seeing our fans, and turning this thing around in the next couple of games.”

Magno has been employed in several offensive roles this season, operating on both the wing and in the center forward #9 position.

With three goals and an assist to his name this term, the Brazilian added he is more than happy to play wherever needed for the benefit of the team.

“I always try to give the best of myself on the field, no matter what position I’m in,” he continued.

“I’m here to help the team and whatever Coach decides for me is whatever I’ll do for the team. There is really no difference for me on that end.

“For me personally, it’s been an interesting season. There has been a lot of turnover in the team, but regardless of that, what I’ve learned about myself is that I have to give the best of myself, and be the best player I can be on the field, regardless of anything that’s going on – whether it’s good games or bad games.”

The 20-year-old produced an impressive display from the bench in NYCFC’s 1-1 draw with Orlando City SC, providing the crucial assist for Gabe Segal’s last-gasp leveler.

The Brazilian says he is building strong relationships with new recruits Segal and Richy Ledezma both on and off the pitch.

“During training, we converse a lot – we talk a lot, we work on different plays together…” he explained.

“Anything we can do to make these players feel at home and welcome is what we're here to do.

“Throughout training, we work together a lot, and it’s been really great to play alongside these really great players.”
