Ronny Reaction | "We Deserved The Win."

New York City Football Club Head Coach Ronny Deila has praised his team’s efforts in the final third after a 4-1 win in their Home Opener against CF Montréal.

The Boys in Blue played out an impressive 90 minutes in the Bronx on a cold Saturday afternoon. Goals from Alex Callens, Santiago Rodríguez, Talles Magno, and Thiago Andrade proved enough to hand them a comfortable 4-1 win, and that left Deila pleased with their efforts.

“I think the first half was excellent, we pressed them really hard and go to the ball,” Deila said. “When you create so many chances it's hard to play against us. The second half we started a little bit slow and then it’s 2-1 and we are a little bit under pressure I think. But I think the subs coming on made a change and put it to three and four one and that was deserved. It’s a tough team to play against Montréal.”

The Norwegian tactician also praised his team’s ability to share out the goals with four different players registering on the scoresheet.

“It's very important that we have many players that can score goals,” he said. “That’s coming from the midfield and also set plays with central defenders and up front today. Thiago scored, Talles scored, that gives confidence to everybody and makes us more dangerous so we can hurt them in many different areas.”
