CelebratePride

New York, N.Y., May 21, 2022 – New York City Football Club (NYCFC) is set to host its sixth consecutive Pride match this coming Sunday, May 22 vs. Chicago Fire at Citi Field to kick off Pride Month. The Club is once again partnering with Athlete Ally and the Hetrik Martin Institute to mark this celebration of self-affirmation, dignity, equality and increased visibility for New York’s LGBTQI+ community.

Prior to kickoff, fans are invited to head to the Jackie Robinson Rotunda outside Citi Field from 2pm – 5pm for a Pride edition of a NYCFC Fan Fest. NYCFC players will also wear the Club’s new Pride pre-match top, which will be available in the team store starting this weekend.

Additionally, NYCFC is offering fans the opportunity to purchase two tickets for $50 with $10 of that purchase going back to Athlete Ally and the Hetrik Martin Institute to benefit furthering the missions of both organizations. Fans can purchase their tickets through this offer here

CEO of NYCFC, Brad Sims, said: “We are proud that our Club reflects the rich diversity of New York City, and we are firmly committed to making NYCFC and our matches a welcoming and inclusive environment for everyone. Our Pride Match will be a great opportunity to show how the sport we love brings together people from different backgrounds while celebrating the LGBTQI+ community.”

NYCFC was founded For The City, with a deep commitment to champion access to soccer for all New Yorkers. The Club’s commitment to equality and access to soccer extends beyond one match, or a month of recognition, but this Sunday’s game is an opportunity to raise awareness for Athlete Ally’s mission to end homophobia and transphobia in sport and to activate the football community in championing LGBTQI+ equality.

NYCFC will continue to celebrate Pride Month, including marching in the NYC Pride Parade on Sunday, June 26.
