NEW YORK, November 22, 2021 – Following the Club’s victory over Atlanta United last night in the first round of the 2021 MLS Cup Playoffs, NYCFC is excited to announce the first three matches of the 2022 regular season.

First up, NYCFC will begin the 2022 regular season on the road against the LA Galaxy on Sunday, February 27 at 5:00 p.m. ET. A week later, the Club will play on the road again against Vancouver Whitecaps on Saturday, March 5 at 6:00 p.m. ET.

On Saturday, March 12, Yankee Stadium will host the Club’s home opener – presented by Etihad Airways – against CF Montréal at 2:00 p.m. ET.

NYCFC CEO Brad Sims said: “While our primary focus is currently on the playoffs and bringing the Cup to New York City, preparations are already underway to make 2022 our best season yet. Having fans return this year was an incredible boost for our team and the entire Club, and we’re ready to build off our strong momentum from the 2021 season.

“Our fans made a clear statement last night that New York City is a soccer city. They brought incredible energy to Yankee Stadium for our first round playoff win over Atlanta. Our fans really set the tone and are a primary reason why we have the best home field advantage in MLS at Yankee Stadium. We fully expect to build upon our impressive home record in 2022, starting on March 12th against CF Montreal.”

NYCFC opens on the road for the eighth consecutive season and holds a 2-3-2 overall record during the first week of the campaign. This will be the first meeting between the two Clubs to start a season – with NYCFC winning in its last four League matches against the Galaxy. NYCFC hosted the Galaxy for the Club’s home opener at Yankee Stadium during the 2018 season, resulting in a 2-1 win for the Boys in Blue.

NYCFC will then travel to play Vancouver – a side the Club holds a 3-1-1 record against – before welcoming Montréal to the Bronx. NYCFC boasts an impressive record against Montréal, remaining unbeaten in 12 of 14 regular season meetings.

The full 2022 regular season schedule will be released by MLS in the coming weeks and tickets for NYCFC’s home opener will be made available shortly thereafter. NYCFC’s 2022 City Members will have first priority for opening day tickets – and tickets for all remaining home matches in 2022. City Members will receive detailed 2022 ticket information in the coming weeks.
