Mix Diskerud, United States National Team Beat Mexico, 2-0

Mix Diskerud vs. Mexico

New York City FC midfielder Mix Diskerud played a solid 80 minutes with key passes and tough tackling as the United States Men's National Team beat rival Mexico 2-0 on Wednesday evening in front of a sellout crowd of 64,369 at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas.

Jordan Morris and Juan Agudelo scored as the United States improved to 13-5-5 against their neighbors since 2000.

Morris, a 20-year-old sophomore at Stanford University, ran onto a deflected ball and put the home team ahead in the 49th minute with his first international goal at the senior level. Agudelo, a forward with the New England Revolution, doubled the United States' advantage in the 72nd minute with his first goal for the national team since 2011.

The United States, which travels to Amsterdam for a match against the sixth-ranked Netherlands on June 5, began Wednesday's match with a 4-4-2 diamond midfield. Mix, who has started all five matches this season for New York City FC, was deployed on the right side of the diamond.

He was replaced by Brad Evans with 10 minutes to play.

The victory extends the United States' current unbeaten run on home soil to 21 matches (18-0-3) and their undefeated streak against Mexico to six (3-0-3).

New York City FC hosts the Philadelphia Union at 7 p.m. ET today at Yankee Stadium.
