Mix Diskerud Named to United States' Provisional Roster for CONCACAF Cup

Mix Diskerud, USMNT vs. Brazil

New York City FC midfielder Mix Diskerud has been named as one of 35 players to the United States Men's National Team's provisional roster ahead of the CONCACAF Cup match against Mexico at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, Calif., on Oct. 10.

The match, which pits the last two CONCACAF Gold Cup champions against each other, decides which nation will represent CONCACAF in the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup in Russia.

Germany (defending World Cup champions), Russia (2018 World Cup host nation), Australia (AFC Asian Cup champions) and Chile (Copa America winners) already qualified in the field of eight nations for the 2018 World Cup prelude tournament.

Mix, 24, has three goals and one assist in 22 appearances (18 starts) this season for New York City FC. The midfielder has six goals in 35 caps for the United States with 10 appearances (six starts) in 2015. He scored in the United States' 2-1 friendly victory over Germany on June 10.

Both the United States and Mexico need to trim their rosters to 23 players by Oct. 1.
