New York City Football Club is delighted to confirm academy product Maximo Carrizo as the Club’s 10th Homegrown signing.

“It feels great,” the youngster told the Club’s official website. “I’ve been working really hard for this with all my teammates, all my coaches, and it's just the next step to be able to get where I really want to be as a player and as a person.”

Carrizo is currently completing a week-long trip with the academy in the United Kingdom, where he partook in several games alongside his teammates. He joins a talented group of players that have previously been confirmed as NYCFC Homegrown singings including James Sands, Joe Scally, Justin Haak, Tayvon Gray, Andres Jasson, Jonathan Jimenez, Nicholas Benalcazar, and Samuel Owusu.

"I think the best part about the academy is mainly the coaches and the staff. Being able to set up all the international trips, all the tournaments, that have not only helped me as a player, but the whole academy to grow and become better players. The environment that is provided by the staff. It's a place where you feel comfortable and safe."

The teenager was also included as part of the travel roster for preseason earlier this year alongside four of his academy teammates and sampled training sessions and several games while away. Reflecting on the experience Carrizo spoke positively about the trip and his overall experience with Ronny Deila’s first-team squad.

“It was my first real experience with the professional team, and I just really enjoyed how everyone was closely knit together, and played as a team throughout the whole preseason. It was just a great experience.

“I’d say two players - Maxi Moralez and Alfredo Morales – helped me a lot. Both of them play close to my position and they just gave me a lot of advice that will help me out in the future as a player.”

The Club would like to congratulate Maximo and his family on this achievement as he moves into the next phase of his development as a young player.
