New York City Football Club are back on home soil this weekend.

The Boys in Blue welcome D.C. United to Yankee Stadium in Matchday Four of the new MLS season.

In the build-up to the game, we Flashback to three memorable home wins against the Black-and-Redā€¦

Magic Lamps

A five-goal thriller...

When the two sides met at Yankee Stadium in 2016, few could have predicted what would unfold: a topsy-turvy, action-packed contest with more than one twist in the tail!

This encounter sparked into life in the final 11 minutes - a rollercoaster ride that threw up twists, turns; highs and lows - and would live long in the memory.

Trailing from Lloyd Sam's first-half effort, New York were desperate for a route back into the game, and leveled with a little more than 10 left to play.

Drilling home on 85, Lampard then looked to have claimed all three points with his 300th career goal, only for D.C. to hit back in injury-time through Lamar Neagle's header, and seemingly earn a share of the spoils...

City had other ideas however, rallying with one last surge forward, as Khiry Shelton threaded through to Lampard. Collecting the ball in the box, the legendary midfielder composed himself before slotting coolly into the far corner to steal the win in incredible fashion, completing the scoring in one of the most exciting finales of any campaign.

All 4-1

A four-star showingā€¦ Cityā€™s long-anticipated return to the Bronx in 2020 was worth the wait.

The Boys in Blue graced Yankee Stadium turf for the first time in more than a year, in the disrupted 2020 campaign, and celebrated the comeback in emphatic style, netting four goals to clinch the three points.

Ismael Tajouri-Shradi bagged a brace, with Taty Castellanos and Keaton Parks also on the scoresheet, as the hosts secured a third successive win.

It took just four minutes to break the deadlock, with Castellanos earning and converting a penalty, but D.C. responded with a successful spot-kick of their own before the quarter-hour mark.

A superb second-half display propelled the City Boys to victory though. Tajouri-Shradi stepped up to score the gameā€™s third penalty, and handed the hosts a two-goal advantage by sliding home an inch-perfect Anton Tinnerholm cross.

Parks added the icing to the cake with two minutes left on the clock, heading home Gudi ThĆ³rarinssonā€™s delivery to cap an excellent eveningā€™s work.

Comeback Kings

Talk about leaving it late!

D.C.'s visit in the historic 2021 campaign yielded plenty of drama, as City produced a sensational last-gasp comeback to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat.

The Boys in Blue had found themselves behind, courtesy of a ninth-minute Nigel Robertha rocket, but remarkably fought back with two goals in the dying minutes to turn the game on its head in dramatic fashion.

The home side leveled the score via a set-piece, as Parks flicked on Maxi Moralez's corner at the near post for his first of the season.

With the momentum, the City Boys went in search of a winner, and found it in the fifth minute of injury time, as substitute Thiago Andrade embarked on a blistering solo run before cutting inside and coolly slotting past Bill Hamid to spark jubilant scenes, and turn one point into three.

Six And The City

Brilliance in the Bronx...

A super six in our second 2021 meeting saw the Boys in Blue savor a record-breaking triumph with a dazzling display.

Six goals without reply recorded the Club's biggest ever win - a feat that has since been equaled but never bettered - on an historic night in New York.

A lightning start lit the blue touch paper, as Thiago opened the scoring after just 36 seconds with our second-fastest goal ever scored, and City stormed into a 3-0 lead after just 11 minutes!

Taty Castellanos bagged an early brace to stun D.C. and Moralez made it four just before the break to hand the hosts a commanding advantage, delighting the home faithful.

The rout would continue after the restart, as Alex Callens netted his first of the campaign, and substitute JesĆŗs Medina joined the party with number six, to seal an historic achievement.
