Cityzens Giving Returns Next Week

Once again, New York City FC fans will have the opportunity to change lives in communities around the world when Cityzens Giving returns next week.

Cityzens Giving is City Football Groupā€™s global charitable campaign that supports Young Leaders around the world, empowering them to tackle challenges affecting their local community by using the power of soccer. Fans decide how funds are split by voting on the project that inspires them most. The more votes a local project gets, the more funding it will receive.

So far, this truly global display of citizenship has made a difference to thousands of young people around the globe.

Before we kick off this yearā€™s campaign, here are some of the statistics and stories from the last 12 months to remind us why Cityzens Giving is so special.

15,000 young people in 18 cities around the world have benefitted from community soccer projects led by inspiring Young Leaders.

City in the Community coaches have traveled around the world to provide training for more than 500 Young Leaders, equipping them with the knowledge and skills to tackle the most pressing social issues in their communities.

In New York City, Young Leaders hosted volunteers and players at the Soccer Bloc program. Soccer Bloc is a youth-led program to create safe spaces for kids across the city with free summer street soccer clinics and festivals. These programs connect kids and young people from different communities and celebrate the melting pot of cultures for which New York City is famous.

Young Leaders in Mexico City opened a second soccer pitch, working with hundreds of community volunteers to create a safe space for local children to play and connect.

A community pitch was also refurbished in Bangkok, where local fans attended the opening and took part in a tournament led by Young Leaders.

The Premier League trophy and Carabao Cup, won by NYCFCā€™s sister Club Manchester City, visited Cityzens Giving projects in Melbourne, SĆ£o Paulo, Bandung and Hanoi, along with Manchester City Legends Joleon Lescott and Paul Dickov.

Finally, in June, more than 70 Young Leaders from across our global network of community projects once again visited the City Football Academy in Manchester for the fourth annual Cityzens Giving Young Leaders Summit. Made possible by Etihad Airways, the Summitā€™s official partner, participants attended on and off the pitch workshops to share knowledge and enhance their community coaching and leadership skills.

Cityzens Giving 2019 launches on Wednesday, November 14 when we will be revealing six new projects for fans to vote on and decide how funds are split. Keep a look out on nycfc.com and donā€™t forget to choose your cause!
