Academy | U-19s Reach Back-to-Back USSDA Finals

u-19s advance 2019

New York City FC U-19 Boys are back in the US Soccer Development Academy final.

The Boys in Blue defeated the Chicago Sockers 2-0 in the semifinal match in Irvine, California to set up a final vs. FC Dallas on Wednesday.

NYCFC won the 2018 USSDA trophy and returned to the Semifinals for the second consecutive season after qualifying for the final four out of 98 teams from the U.S. and Canada. As the defending champs, the U-19s were eager to pull off a repeat of last year and return to the final.

The team came out strong, scoring the first goal of the final on 12’ courtesy of Andres Jasson, on an assist from Jonathan Jimenez, to take the lead.

Jasson’s early goal was his sixth of the young City boys’ playoff run.

On 74’, it was Jimenez’s turn. The forward took a shot outside of the box and netted a goal to double the lead, 2-0 to solidify the U-19s’ win.

When the final whistle blew, NYCFC had secured the shutout win against the Sockers to advance to the USSDA Final for the second time in a row.

NYCFC U-19s are facing off against FC Dallas on July 10, as their campaign for a back-to-back run continued.
