Healthier Communities

Goal:

Encourage exercise and healthy living for young people ages 5- 12 years through the power of soccer.

Each year, over 3,000 young New Yorkers benefit from CITC programs which use the power of soccer to inspire active, healthy lifestyles. Programs include school sports sessions, youth-led community soccer festivals, an annual 'City Schools Cup' and “The Healthy Hat-trick,” a soccer-themed educational program curriculum on health and nutrition that is implemented by young leaders.

So far kids enrolled in the “Healthy Hat-trick” program have reported the following:
  • 73% of kids think the Healthy Hat-trick project has made them more physically active

  • 77% of kids think the Healthy Hat-trick has made them choose healthier food

“The Healthy Hat-Trick book is amazing because it introduces one topic each week, such as eating healthy or teamwork. We focus on that topic all week and then we are better soccer players because of it. The Healthy Hat-Trick really reinforces what the kids are learning on the field through soccer. The students like the book a lot.” - Miss Tsoupros and her 5th grade class from Public School 83.

Thanks to our friends at GOYA for supporting Health Hat Trick!
