NYCFC Oscars 2017: Rawls’ Favorite Movie

Raws Oscars 2017

The 89th Academy Awards take place at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles on Sunday, February 26.

To celebrate, we’ve asked a number of NYCFC stars for their favorite movies of all-time.

So far we’ve heard from Andrea Pirlo on The Hangover, Sean Johnson’s on Man on Fire and Maxime Chanot on Cinderella Man.

Today, it’s the turn of Andre Rawls, who goes for one from the Marvel Cinematic Universe (or MCU to the initiated)…

Andre said…

“Favorite movie is a tough question to answer because every genre has something different to offer but I guess I can say that one movie that I consistently love to watch is Iron Man. Not only for the superhero part of it but also for innovation and ingenuity aspects of it – I really enjoy seeing that on screen.

“I just recently saw the Accountant too which is a really awesome movie and that’s also now near the top of my list, but I’ll go for Iron Man!”

Heroes Aren’t Born. They’re Built

Robert Downey Jr. really made the role of Tony Stark and Iron Man his own in the 2008 movie from Marvel Studios.

Widely accepted as the film which kick-started this era of box office domination for superhero, comic book movies, Iron Man went on to take a phenomenal $585.2m worldwide.

Nominated for two Academy Awards for Best Sound Editing and Best Visual Effects, the movie also yielded an incredible critical response, earning a 94% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, the review aggregator, making it the best-reviewed film of 2008.

We’d tell you more about the plot, but, let’s face it, you’ve probably seen it by now if you were ever going to!

Tomorrow, we discover which movie new signing John Stertzer regards as his favorite of all-time… SPOILER, it might share one thing in common with Andre’s choice.

Now, that’s a cliffhanger!
