How they lined up …

Patrick Vieira made three changes to his starting XI from the squad that lost at New England last Saturday.
RJ Allen started on the left side of a four-man backline, replacing Jason Hernandez, Andoni Iraola returned to the starting lineup in place of suspended Federico Bravo and Tommy McNamara started on the left side of a three-man front line, replacing Steven Mendoza.

Mendoza was the first substitution, coming on for Frank Lampard three minutes from halftime. In the 63rd minute, Khiry Shelton replaced Allen as Vieira switched to three in the back.

In the 82nd minute, Hernandez came on for McNamara, as NYCFC returned to a four-man backline.

Man of the match …

Tommy McNamara
McNamara returned to the lineup after Vieira rested him against New England and made an immediate impact with his fifth goal of the season, matching his total of last season, and first since a wonder strike against the New York Red Bulls on July 24.

McNamara also lofted in a dangerous ball to Andrea Pirlo in the 28th minute, but Pirlo’s sliding shot was saved by FC Dallas goalkeeper Chris Seitz.
