New York City FC's Frank Lampard Releases New Children's Book

Frank Lampard vs Toronto FC

New York City FC midfielder Frank Lampard released his 14th children’s book titled “Frankie’s Magic Football Team T. Rex.”
The book is about Frankie (Frank Lampard) and his group of friends taking on a team of dinosaurs to help save a baby pterodactyl.

For Lampard, the inspiration for these books comes from his children.

“My inspiration came from my own children, I always enjoyed reading and writing from my school days. When I had children it brought a different aspect to that. I like reading with them.”
The process of publishing a book is not always easy for Lampard.

"It can take a while,” said Lampard. "When I first got the books published, I had been sitting on the idea for 2-3 years, so I had five stories pretty complete, which was quite easy for me because they were very nearly ready.  Since then I have now gone on to my 14th book, so I am trying to reinvent the story as I go along. I come up with ideas when I am traveling away with the team and when I speak with my children. I try and put myself back into that young boy’s mind of the young footballer and young child I used to be, and I try to make them fun.  The process can take months."

The series features Frank Lampard referred to as Frankie and his gang of friends going on soccer based adventures.

The midfielder expresses that the books are meant for more then just an entertainment purpose.
“Hopefully the books not only entertain children, but help them with the basic skill of reading,” said Lampard. "Whether they be boys or girls, I think its something that, I know in England we have some problems with the numbers falling in literacy and hopefully I can help them.”
