The fans have spoken and New York City FC forward David Villa has been named to the 2015 Major League All-Star Game.

Villa is the Club’s first-ever player voted by fans to the event. He joins Seattle forwards Clint Dempsey and Obafemi Martins on the All-Star Fan XI.

“I’m very happy,” Villa said. “I’m thankful that the fans chose me. I’m proud to represent New York City FC.”

The MLS All-Stars face Tottenham Hotspur of the English Premier League in the MLS All-Star Game at 9 p.m. ET on July 29 at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park in Colorado. The match will be broadcast on FOX Sports 1 and UniMas in the United States and TSN and RDS in Canada.

Villa, New York City FC’s first-ever signing, is joined by teammate Frank Lampard, who was invited along with Los Angeles Galaxy midfielder Steven Gerrard by MLS Commissioner Don Garber.
