Akira Fitzgerald Shines as Carolina RailHawks Win

On-loan New York City FC goalkeeper Akira Fitzgerald had six saves as the Carolina RailHawks beat the Fort Lauderdale Strikers 1-0 on May 23 at Lockhart Stadium.


Fitzgerald, who is on loan with the NASL side until June 7, spent four seasons with Carolina prior to signing with New York City FC on Dec. 11, 2014.


The RailHawks (2-4-2) currently sit in fifth place in the NASL Spring Season standings with 10 points after eight matches.


Carolina hosts the Charlotte Independence in the third round of the U.S. Open Cup tonight at WakeMed Soccer Park.
